Steedman/LaFontaine take it on the chin again. That's right Jerry and Hal suffered
another crushing defeat. In a definite scheduling error, Steedman asked Brian Matthews
to substitute for Ken Storms. What does Matthews do? Throws a 39 (net 30) at him.
This combined with Hal shooting 52 (net 43), the fat lady sang early. Could this be the
star of a long slide for the once front runners? Don't count on it. Last year they just
hovered around the top only to be there in the end.

The big surprise is the current team atop of the pile. Rinella/Rinella. Maybe it wasn't a
fluke that Ed shared the top spot last year as co-champion with Ed Carey. Well Carey is
gone now and Mike Rinella is carrying this team to glory. Ed just seems to be good at
selecting partners. They currently hold a 7.5 point lead over the surprising Kosek/Storms
team, thanks to Brian Matthews. It seems Matthews used some chicanery to shoot far
over his head and help Russ defeat Steedman/LaFontaine last week. It seems Brian was
wearing COPPER BRACELETS! Brian evidently read something in the Austad's
Catalog, that copper bracelets rid the golfer of evil spirits (or some such nonsense) and
decided to give it a try. NO, NO, NO, Brian didn't buy the bracelets, the scam yes,
but not the bracelet.
Brian made his own. It looked like he stripped some wire and
wrapped it around his wrist and braided two pieces for his other wrist and wrapped them
around. Who know where else he may have wrapped copper wire. Does he wrap wire
around his joint so he can make a connection elsewhere? I'm not checking, but I wouldn't
be surprised.

Dooley/K. Herbs take over the cellar. With yet another crushing defeat Brian and Kelly
managed to do what was thought to be impossible. Take away the cellar from
Hebert/Marone. This team can't suck enough. How bad can it get. With these two teams
we may just sink to new depths. The new low on the board is 23.5 points from the league
leaders. The league leaders could stay away for 2 weeks and grab no points and still be
ahead of these bums.

This weeks matches will prove to be interesting. Clem finally puts it together and Phil
shits the bed. Although not in last place they are not far from it. This is a team, that if
they could put it together, that could be awesome. They have the talent, but do they have
what it takes to win big and often. Time will tell. Now anxious readers here is what you
have been waiting for, Putter Prognostications:

LaPietra/Laraway vs Rinella/Rinella Here is the test you just heard about. Can they
put it together against the top dogs. Ed and Mike are starting to put distance from the
rest of the league and one would think they would be prohibitive favorites. Are they? No!
Phil will not shoot badly two weeks in a row and Clem finally has it together. This will be
a close match with the Rinella's squeaking by.

Kosek/Storms vs Hebert/Marone Although Tom and Dan pulled a shocking tie in last
weeks match with Herbs/Roedel and The Kosek/Storms team is not nearly as talented
beware of a set back this week. Russ will not have Matthews to bail him out this week,
but Kenny can play a lick. He will carry the team to an easy victory. Hebert/Marone will
be lucky to stay off the bottom. The D&H combo will likely keep them out of last but not
because of the wealth of talent possessed by Tom and Dan. Big win here for Russ and
Ken.

J. Herbs/R. Roedel vs Merry/Gardy The only thing about this match is, it's a shame it
has to be played. Roedel is having a bad time of it and can not expect a lot of support
from Joe. Merry/Gardy..... Well they just suck. Tom has not been able to play a lick since
he has found love and sobriety. Is it the ulcers, or his constant standing putter now that he
has a love life. Bill never had any talent and the once mighty Yellow Submarine can't get
off the bottom. He used to start well then falter. There has been no good start this year.
Bill used to be able to at least supply enough support to keep his team respectable, but not
any more. With no support from his partner this team is destined for mediocrity. A
boring match that someone has to win. Look for Ron to bring his A game and Joe to offer
minimal support for a close win.

D. Roedel/Wanback vs Murray/McTague With the off week we are back on the front
side again. Paul really hates this side because it eats him up. Paul who was once a fair
golfer is mind screwed here. He needs no opponent. The course eats his face. Don
on the other hand plays well on either side. Murray/McTague blew their wad two weeks ago
in an upset over Steedman/LaFontaine. They did manage to pull a tie last week against
LaPietra/Laraway but that was only because Phil played terrible. If Phil played close to his
ability they would have crushed this minimal talented team that shot all they had two
weeks ago. Even with Paul putting through tapioca Don will carry them to victory.
Murray/McTague has no chance here. The Irish take a wooping here.

Steedman/LaFontaine vs Dooley/K. Herbs Talk about a walk in the park. This match
could not come at a better time for Jerry and Hal. Hal has been having a tough go of it for
the last few weeks. Jerry has shot steady but not enough to pull the team through. It
seems every team gets pumped up to play them. Well all the pumping in the world will
not help here. The D&H team will go down like a train wreck. We just hope it doesn't
get too bloody. Brian sold Kelly a pig in a poke when he convinced him to be his partner.
Believe it or not, Kelly was better off with Hebert. Sad to say, but true. Granted he
would be on the bottom with either partner, but never as low as this. Even no talent Tom
with Less talent Dan are 5.5 points ahead of this team. Even with Hal's B game this has
all the tendencies of being Butt Ugly! Lord knows there is a lot of Butt in this group and
is it ever ugly. Kelly dresses up the foursome but remember, you can't make chicken soup
with chicken shit. Huge win here keeps Hal and Jerry near the top and as always in the
hunt.
